Memory Vault | Milk Krate

(The challenge)

Photobooths are built to stay put.

Most event photobooths are built to stay put: heavy rigs, fixed setups and glossy prints that need a crew to move. I wanted the opposite, a booth light enough to carry between cities and compact enough to fit into a market stall, a company D&D or a house party. It also had to produce a keepsake worth holding onto, and work for brands as well as guests, so every print carried an event's identity out the door.

(The solution)

Snap, print, leave with a strip.

Memory Vault is a portable receipt photobooth that prints long, receipt-style photo strips in seconds. Guests snap, print and leave with a strip designed around the event's logo, name, date and hashtag, with no apps, no uploads and no waiting. The same booth runs events in both Singapore and Melbourne, making it part analogue keepsake, part brand activation. It has run at Fireplace, Inclusive Market and Honeycombers events.

(The build)

From the booth to the booking site.

Everything from the booth to the booking site was designed and built in-house.

Booth hardware: custom 3D-modelled parts, with sourced components chosen to match the look and keep the build modular
Capture-to-print software: a custom capture flow and dithering process, printing fast enough to keep the queue moving
Brand identity: name, wordmark and visual language for Memory Vault
Website: designed and developed in Astro, with a Book → Design → Print flow, an events gallery, an FAQ and a quote request that gets a reply within 24 hours

The photobooth open in its hard case: a phone on a mount in the lid, the receipt printer slot in the base.

The booth packed into its hard case on a lounge table, guests seated behind it.

The booth set up on a café table under a paper lantern, its screen showing the live camera.

The booth's start screen in a dimly lit bar, reading Mini Photobooth, touch anywhere to start.

The booth at Youth Day '26: a light on a stand beside the open case and its screen.

Three views of the rig: a phone on an arm above the printer case, with a lightbox sign beside it.
